Google Germany is massively expanding and therefore they are adding 100 positions to local German market.
“We grow enormously, recently we rent new offices”, said Philipp Schindler, Google Northern Europe to Welt (German Newspaper)
The local search now named maps was planned to be launched in 2005 already, but due to facing problems not only with content google had to postpone the launch several times and what is live today is technically nice but as said before somehow travelling back into time.
According to the article most of the new hires will be working in selling advertising to local businesses. Another step towards reality of a oh so technology driven company.
Sure it’s not just me wondering how are planning to do this. Cause it’s one thing to be first in class in terms of reach in teh web, but a whole different story to convince the little bakery round the corner to buy an add on the internet ….
