Besides of not having been to Las Vegas before – and I wanted to see this city like since ever /not because I’m into gambling more because I think and have heard from others that this city is as unique as the Oktoberfest in Munich or the coliseum in Rome – after quite some SES conferences I want to experience myself how the crowd at Webmasterworld – Pubcon 2006 Las Vegas differs and if its really as great as people tell me.

As part of my role at Yahoo! Local Search is dedicated to SEM and SEO there are quite some closely related panels and topics at this years PubCon in Las Vegas.
Sessions I want to attend:
I’ll go to the kickoff keynote – even so its quite early morning – as Guy Kawasaki is probably one of the most engaging and inspirational speakers in todays IT world. Well done on getting him on board!
Next on my list is SEO and Big Search well we are a Big Search and I have to admit there is truth in the description of this panel:
It turns out that just because a programmer can write a search engine algo, it doesn’t mean they can reverse-engineer that algo from a web page. Their own people need some training and help getting pages indexed and ranked well from time to time.
It’s all about links baby! Link Development and Linking Optimization
Which of the following statements is true?
- You are who your links say you are
- You are who you link to
- Other
- All of the above
As I would say (4) all the above and (3) others, there is always something to learn about off-site optimization …
Next one is a hard choice but I would tend to go to the Feeding the Engines – Writing Copy
Two reasons for this decision 1. I’m quite a fan of the ClickThis show Jennifer Slegg does on webmasterradio.fm and “content is King” so to know how to do great copy writing with a focus on search engines totally makes sense.
Ad and Landing Page Site Reviews is the next on the list. Why? Because I like the real life approach of screening and discussing real websites and getting an experts opinion is worth a lot. I’m excited to see who will reveal his ownership of sites to get this great service
Thats a load of stuff already … so I’m not sure if I will go to the Opera Keynote by Jon Von Tetzchner. (I don’t like the opera browser historically as it has been pain in the a*** for me while doing webdevelopment and HTML/CSS/JavaScript coding)
to be continued …
