Very recently we launched the 1.3 Beta Version of Local Search for UK and Germany. This release not only provides the user with a brushed up design but with some new features and enhancements.
The new design reflects several findings of user research we did in the both countries and well I think that it looks quite nice.
The main enhancements on the feature side are:
- The Reviews and Ratings platform now integrated into the local environment – enabling users to help other users to make better decisions while looking for a good restaurant or hotel etc. rate Jamie Oliver’s Fifteen Restaurant Ltd
- The second opinion integrated into the business details page and the Local Serps – in parallel to querying the Local Search Index we send a query to our web-search-index to enhance the user-experience and provide more information to the given business
- Direct display in Yahoo! web-search – whenever you do a search that we consider to have a local intent like e.g. [Bar London] we display the top 3 entries of our local search index on top of the organic web-search results.
