Yahoo! EU Local Search with revised design and new features

Very recently we launched the 1.3 Beta Version of Local Search for UK and Germany. This release not only provides the user with a brushed up design but with some new features and enhancements.

The new design reflects several findings of user research we did in the both countries and well I think that it looks quite nice.

The main enhancements on the feature side are:

The Reviews and Ratings platform now integrated into the local environment – enabling users to help other users to make better decisions while looking for a good restaurant or hotel etc. rate Jamie Oliver’s Fifteen Restaurant Ltd
The second opinion integrated into the business details page and the Local Serps – in parallel to querying the Local Search Index we send a query to our web-search-index to enhance the user-experience and provide more information to the given business
Direct display in Yahoo! web-search – whenever you do a search that we consider to have a local intent like e.g. [Bar London] we display the top 3 entries of our local search index on top of the organic web-search results.
