Why did WordPress remove the incoming links monitoring?

Just realized that WordPress seems to have removed the incoming links monitoring they have provided working with Technorati.

It has bee in the Dashboard but disappeared since yesterday. That’s sad cause I liked this feature… Or is this the first sign of the new 2.1 Release that is about to be launched next week?

>>>update: seems to be back again …

well I’ve noticed that the module was gone this morning CET time / checked couple of blogs I run. Now if I go to the dashboard of these blogs the technorati latest backlinks are back on …
      cheers

Technorati has been having some problems in the past week. Always check first before you blame. ;-)

      Hey Lorelle!

well you are right one shouldn’t rush into false assumptions ;) however I was aware of the problems technorati seems to have since quite a while / at least with long tail blogs like mine / however I never realized the monitoring plugin to completely vanish … it’s been empty yes but not even on the page that was new to me.

the upside of it … well you earned a new subscriber to your blog feed /actually stumbled on your site before but didn’t bookmark/ really a great resource for amateurs like me.

      greets
