Local Intent without an Identifier – AOL will get you!

Although the discussion of how many searches do have a local intent is a never ending one, and the numbers published do reach from 20% to 40% of all searches it is obvious that the better you cater the user the more likely he will come back to you.

The retention rate is one core value you want to have an eye on – and a user that you helped out at some point where he was “lost” and typed in something like “plumber” or “pizza” by guiding him to the content he is really looking for is very likely to come back – and we love users who come back.

Now AOL has quite a handy integration in their/Google’s web search for searches like this.

  • Yahoo’s way back to the top?
  • Yahoo! EU Local Search with revised design and new features
  • Targeting Local Audiences With Search
  • New! Google local business ads
