Yahoo! Maps Field Day - We want YOU

So this should be fun. Once in a while - you will all agree - one can get pretty trapped in his very own world and forget about the others “out there”.
Thats when its time to meet the customers and look into the eyes of real people with real lives and ask them how they approach problem solving - beware some might say “without a computer”. This has prooven to be very usefull approach to get the product development focus back to where it belongs - the user needs.
So that is why we do this - at least that is my understanding. A couple of the questions I want to ask can be found below.
Here are a few things I would like to ask you to help us understand: how, when where, why and what people use when planning a journey
- When do you feel that you need to get more information when you’re planning a journey?
- Do you mostly use Maps for walking or driving?
- If you were planning a car journey that you had never taken before how would you do this?
- If you were using an on-line system can you talk me through how you would use it?
- Do you store or save any online map printouts?
- Do you use offline maps? Which ones? Why? What is better about offline maps over online maps?
Get a prize! at the Search Team Meeting on 10 October - Well we will very unlikely fly you in but hey I’ll make sure to ship the price to you if you should be lucky.
Prizes will be awarded for:
- best poster/powerpoint - summary
- best idea for new a product/feature/service influenced by an observation
- most unexpected MPOI quote / a MPOI is a Maps Person(s) of Interest
- most interesting artifact
The posters will then be collected and displayed around the Maps and Local Search area 4th Floor.
