I haven’t seen this till right now – maybe just because it didn’t work on my windows laptop, but there seem to be 3D shapes for buildings on Google maps now.

neyyork

I’ve been checking the hotel I’ll be staying in for SMX social and right now I do see 3D shapes of buildings and that’s dammed handy to get a better understanding for your location.

Check it out here: 49 West 32nd Street, New York, NY 10001

Is that really new?

Update not new at all – I’ve just not zoomed in as far at first :(

      Hi Frank,

I noticed that a while ago too:

      Pretty cool feature, huh?

These features haven’t made it into the maps api, either (licensing issues?)

      hey emad,
thanks for pointing me to your site – I should have done more research maybe and was pretty sure it could not be NEW but as said I’ve not spotted it earlier the same day…

      cheers
