Starting with the last session of yesterdays first day of SMX social here is a couple my thoughts about what was said…

Joshua Schachter of del.icio.us & Garrett Camp of StumbleUpon

… and especially of what I’ve heard… cause there is a very comprehensive writeup by Vanessa Fox on searchengineland.com here.

First off is was awesome to see two of the guys that won the bet of getting an idea to a product that is loved by the internet users and being bought up by a BIG corporate player later on - stumbleupon was sold to ebay for ~75 mio.

It all felt a little awkward so - as the marketeers are really the ones who will try to exploit and game the systems as much as they can. And the guys up there were nice enough to turn up anyway.

But as compared to some of the web2.0 conferences where people will ask them about the “wisdom of the masses” here people \ neil patel \ are asking why del.icio.us was having trouble with handling more than 600 friends.

And sure without people pushing the grey areas the systems to protect the communities would never be that advanced.

Both were talking about looking into ways to have optional closed group environments for people to share information. So micro communities seems to be an area of the future.

Really exciting panel.
