MacBook Pro - its the little things

This is the first of a couple of gadget posts - covering the “needful” things I’ve pampered myself with during 2007.
Some of them were just 100% hit the spot fantastic additions others more of the why the heck did I waste money on you dammed shiny thing category.
THE BIGGEST GADGET was most definitely the MacBook Pro I got for myself as a my birthday present for me gift this summer.
And this is a 100% hit spot on love the thing couldn’t and wouldn’t want to live without it anymore item.
I’ve thought about getting one for really quite some time. But as we all know the thing is not just shiny and good looking but also not at the bottom of the price range when it comes to a new laptop.
I’ve had a IBook before a G3 600MHZ one with the first version of OSX - just loved it and its still running - at my sisters house as she inherited it at some point. And through all the time using the IBook I loved the thing hands down. Loved the style, love the OS and loved the fact that it was still doing well after years of hard work.
The way to justify spending quite some cash on a laptop I don’t need - I got one from work that is for free and really decent - was to keep work out of my home/flat. The idea was to leave the work laptop at work and have the Mac at home - with no /almost no access to work mail, twiki, bugzilla and net work drives.
Guess what - that really really worked. I manage to leave my windows laptop at work and only take it home with me over weekends - just in case. But usually I never boot it - and if I have to work I will use it for only that one reason and put it back in the bag afterwards.
This is really really healthy as I usually checked my work mails till late during the week and most of the time during weekends.
Thing I like most about the Gadget:
The little surprises

- like the remote control,

or the magnetic power connector.
Thing I didn’t like:
The fact that the price in the UK is soooo much higher than the US one that you could literally fly from London to New York to buy one and the cost for the return flight is easily covered by the savings ….
