Goodbye Local Hello Answers

After more than two years of fascinating and exciting work on Local Search & Maps today I’ve started a new chapter of my life as a Yahoo!.

I’m leaving with a tear in my eyes as the people and experiences during these two years have been fabulous. Thanks to all of you guys and best of luck for the challenges ahead.

Now as some of you might have heard already – Yahoo! has moved the Answers product from the US to Europe. That’s a first and very exciting opportunity for us here in Europe. For me personally this provided me with the great opportunity to help define and drive the international development of one of the most used internet products there is. So as of today I’m one of two product managers driving the development of answers globally.

It’s fair to think that going forward you will read more about social search and social platforms here than local search related stuff.

Ok - almost two months late, but just as sincere: congratulations on the new job! In case you make it to Paris gimme a shout (probalby not for a pint, but hey - wine’s not that bad either…)

PS: the domain sociallytype.com is still available… :-P

[…] now - about 15 years later - Frank (who recently exchanged maps for answers) pointed me to this page, that kind of asks the same question. Good one if you ask me… […]
