Twitter – a love and hate relationship

I’ve been very reluctant to really give twitter a serious try – and having had a number of conversations on that very topic – many others felt the same.

It is so obvious: Twitter is a waste of time!

Who would want to know if I just bought me some new NAS server or that I’ve just gone for a walk with my dog? The simple and obvious answer – NOBODY.

But having been to the WordCamp Las Vegas the other week I have heard how people were using Twitter for all things web and loved it. And you could grasp that this was none of the – this will be the next big thing chatter – it was and is real they were all over this 140 character micro-blogging service and using it all day.

Warren Whitlock did a talk about twitter on the 2nd day of WordCamp and was kind enough not only to share some insights during his presentation but to give me a free copy of his book “The Twitter Revolution” he is running a website called the twitter handbook go check it out.

And now surprise surprise I caught quite a bug in terms of exploring and playing around with Twitter. It is fascinatingly informative, very much a real time web application, its very fast, it has some aspects of a time waster like stumbleupon (but then  I like a good time waster once in a while) and it feeds the voyeuristic part of me that likes to know what the rich and famous are doing right now :)

Uh and while we are at it make sure you follow me on Twitter
(not that I would understand how obsessed people are with the number of their followers – but there is some comparison you could see with the PageRank obsession)
