MacBook PRO 500 GB HDD & 4 GB Memory Upgrade – back with Time Machine

After almost 1.5 years with my 15 inch MacBook Pro 2.2 GHz in original setup.

With a 120 GB hard disk and 2 gigabyte of ram memory I figured its time for a serious upgrade. I’ve taken way too many pictures in Raw format to still fit them on the small disk and more memory never hurts especially at the low price you get it these days.

In Germany owning an iPhone will set you back another 5,76 Euro a month now

You have to love German efficiency. Since this year 2009 iPhone owners have to pay an extra of 5,76 Euro per month on top of the fee they pay for the monthly plan at T-Mobile.

The GEZ (Central radio and television toll collecting agency) in Germany does argue that the iPhone is a device that enables you to access the internet (that’s true) and they use the money to provide the citizens of Germany a basic coverage of news and information of all kind. This is an old approach they translated form the television part of media where the argumentation goes that by collecting the fees they gather the money to ensure that media is not influenced by advertising or big money quite as much and you will get rather unbiased news coverage.

I did replace my QNAP NAS with a shiny new Synology 207+ this Christmas. And whilst I was more than pleased with its functionality and the great user interface I was more than dissapointed by the fact that all videos I did try to watch on my MacBook Pro via the VLC player did not run smoothly at all it was snatchy really.

Thinking about spending some money on a Mir:ror

Just came across this new toy – and am really tempted to spend some money on it.
It is from the same company that released the Nabaztag that I dearly love! The new toy is called Mir:ror.

iPod Touch serves as a flight ticket – a real e-ticket

first real e-ticket

For last weeks flight from London to Munich I have gotten my first real E-Ticket. Usually the E-ticket just tells you that you don’t have to bring more than a credit card or a frequent flyer card to grab your ticket either at the airline counter or a quick check in terminal.
